Pellets
This is pellets
Pellets are a renewable energy source that provides warmth and well-being. It’s based on the residual product from sawmills’ production of planks and boards, i.e. sawdust and cutter shavings. We take care of the residue, dry it and press it together. Our ambition is to produce a fuel that always has the same properties so that the burning happens as evenly and efficiently as possible.

No additives
When Scandbio compresses the residue into pellets in our factories, we do not use any additives; nature itself actually does much of the work. In wood, there’s a substance called lignin – and this is what binds shavings together when they are exposed to high pressure and heat. Pellets are thus nothing else but compressed wood material. In other words, it’s a renewable biofuel that provides energy to industries and the economy, heat when it’s cold at home and gives people the opportunity to live a bit more climate-smart.
High quality
We have 40 years of production experience and our entire manufacturing process, from raw material to finished product, is continuously monitored. High-quality pellets must have a low moisture content, which in Scandbio’s pellets amounts to 6–8 %. The pellets have that moisture content when they are delivered to you, with an energy content of just over 4.8 kWh/kg and a maximum ash content of 0.5 %.
Natural energy
Scandbio only purchases raw materials from responsible suppliers who ensure regrowth and are certified for sustainable forestry. By refining by-products from the forestry industry, we utilize nature's resources in a resource-efficient way and contribute to a more circular and sustainable use of natural resources. Good for you, the environment, and future generations.
Sustainable development
We work for sustainable development with minimal environmental impact. Our factories are certified according to standards such as ISO 9001/14001, and the handling of raw materials is also certified. In our factories in Norberg and Ulricehamn, excess heat from the drying process is used for district heating for the municipality's residents.
